When you think of McDonald’s, do you think of high-tech innovation and artificial intelligence?
Well, you may be surprised to hear how far McDonald’s has come, and working there is already not as simple as it used to be. Now, the global fast food chain is making some updates at the drive-thru.
McDonald’s will be updating their drive-thru windows with AI applications. This comes amid McDonald’s purchase of Dynamic Yield Lmt., an Israeli AI company. That deal cost McDonald’s $300 million, but that’s a cost that can easily be paid back over time. This represents McDonald’s first major move into tech. McDonald’s reports that they will use these AI updates to enhance and personalize the drive-thru experience. The updates will include automatic changes to the menu based on time of day, the weather, and current trends at McDonald’s. The window will also guide customers through the order process, visually displaying amenities that come with a combo meal.
Now that every other industry seems to be getting on board with AI, it only makes sense that McDonald’s will as well. Every day, McDonald’s serves 68 million customers, or 1% of the world’s population. It will be interesting to see how they will use the data they acquire from the new AI updates.
