Twitch Viewers Have Now Watched 9.36 Billion Hours Of Content

2018 saw Twitch viewers watch over 9.36 billion hours of content during the best year for the streaming platform to date. Video streaming has become a booming business in recent years, and now both Twitch and YouTube have finished an excellent year for viewership.

The 9.36 billion hour figure is not only impressive on its own, but is even more impressive considering it’s a 25% increase from 2017. That means that over one million years’ worth of streamed content was viewed in one year. That’s enough time to travel several galaxies at light speed.

The live streaming industry is expected to further expand going forward. YouTube’s live-streamed gaming content topped 2.3 billion hours in 2018, a 104% increase from the previous year. The data has even been broken down by game, with Fortnite taking over 1.3 billion hours of viewer’s times. Other ultra-popular games such as League of Legends have also taken hundreds of millions of viewers’ hours.
