Tulsa, Oklahoma Will Pay You $10K to Move There

The city of Tulsa, Oklahoma is looking to inject some fresh lifeblood into its populace. To that end, the Tulsa city council, alongside the George Kaiser Family Foundation, has concocted the Tulsa Remote program. If you work in a remote position, Tulsa has $10,000 with your name on it.

The Tulsa Remote program is offering $10,000 grants to any remote workers who move to the city. Any profession is fine, though they’re leaning toward creative and tech-centric ones, and the job has to be based outside of Tulsa. In addition to the money, which would be split up over multiple payments for relocation costs and a monthly stipend, participants would be eligible for reduced-cost housing in Tulsa’s new Arts District. A membership to 36 Degrees North, a local communal work space with desks, wi-fi, and other amenities would also be granted.

Applications are now open for candidates. The program will be starting small with only 10 to 15 people at a time, but it is hoped to reach up to 300 concurrent workers. In a statement to Business Insider, Ken Levit of the George Kaiser Family Foundation said that they “are looking for talented and energetic people who not only will consider re-locating permanently to Tulsa but especially for people who want to make something here—to add to the dynamism, idealism, and get ‘er done spirit of Tulsa.”
