People Are Talking: Diablo Donuts

Michael Roslan, the owner of Diablo donuts in Baltimore, happened upon his trade accidentally – literally. After being a tattoo artist by trade, he was involved in a motorcycle accident and was unable to do that job anymore. His injuries prevented him from being able to grab things for long periods of time. So, he started making donuts and selling them at farmers markets. He was encouraged by his friend to pursue making donuts full-time.

Diablo donuts offers about 20 different varieties of donuts each day. Some of the flavor choices are Samoa, cheesecake strawberry, special heart donuts for Valentine’s Day, s’mores, blueberry basil, maple bacon, crème brûlée (a Bavarian center with a crème brûlée top), blackberry lime, Fruity Pebbles (aka unicorn farts) and their famous Baltimore doughnut – Old Bay seasoning and caramel.

Recently, he made hundreds of special heart donuts to raise money for the Malone family, donating 100% of the proceeds of an entire weekend’s worth of sales to them. Michael Roslan donated all the ingredients for the donuts himself. The owner of Diablo Donuts showed his generosity through his craft. Each donut cost three dollars.

They raised around $2,700 for the Malone family who was devastated when six of their children were killed in a fire in their Baltimore home. Additionally, a GoFundMe page has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for the family. The Malone family lived in North East Baltimore and the children ranged in ages from 11 years to 9 months. Both parents and three of their other children all survived the fire.
