Giving Your Children Financial Jobs: Yes, You’re Reading This Right!

When you think about jobs and chores to give your kids, did you ever think that you could be giving them a financial job? Well, what is a financial job anyway? A financial job is certain financial responsibilities that you give to your child.

For a young child like a 6 or 7 year old these jobs could consist of paying for their own collectables. This can be anything from trading cards to hot wheel racers. It’s a great idea and will help get the financial ball rolling. And as your kids get older you can expand the responsibilities.

If your middle schooler is going to the mall every weekend with their friends, he or she should not be hitting you up for $20 every time they go. That money should be coming out of their allowance. That money should be built in with the chores that they do.

Even letting your teenager buy birthday gifts for their friends will tech them very fast that you don’t need to shop at the most expensive store and buy the most expensive items. The older they get the more responsibility they should have. This will help keep your child happy and successful in the long-run.
