Full-Time Lyft & Uber Workers Struggling Financially

A new report by Business Insider has revealed the extent to which full-time Lyft and Uber drivers struggle to make a living wage.

Drivers will most often fit their schedule to make a livable wage, but the majority of full-time drivers struggle to make ends meet.

According to the Wall Street Journal, many in the new “gig economy” are struggling through low churn-through. This could perhaps be due to a tightening labor market, as the US Labor Department has found that wages have increased the most for low-wage jobs during recent years. Low unemployment appears to have forced companies to either pay their employees more or face the risk of losing employees to the competition. Despite low unemployment and growing wages, the data suggests that full-time workers in the gig economy do not make livable wages.

Many workers are taking advantage of the gig economy in order to make an extra income between their other jobs. At the moment, it would appear that this demographic is taking advantage of the gig economy to its fullest extent. Despite this, drivers at Lyft and Uber have had a harder time during the last few years.
