Your Guide To Secondhand Savings

Here at WiseDime, we don’t like to use the word “cheap.” Instead, we like to say “smart shopping” and part of “smart shopping” means sacrificing brand new luxury for affordable, secondhand sales. Today, we’re counting down the things you can be buying secondhand that will help you save more money, according to Business Insider.

Bed Frame
A basic frame can be one of the easiest things to get used. Keep the mattress, sheets, and pillows as new purchases. As long as it’s sturdy and supports the size you want, places like OfferUp and the Facebook Marketplace can be great places to find this essential piece of furniture.

Silverware and Dishes
A strong scrubbing will help clean any used dishes and make them sparkle like they’re brand new. Buying all the kitchen essentials for your house is not only expensive, but its a pain. Look for these items as hand-me-downs so you can get a helping hand in saving money.

Television
A brand new TV is going to cost an arm and a leg nowadays. We live in a world where its all about “smart technology” so even if you want the most basic model, it’s still going to come equipped with a ton of features you probably don’t need for a starter home. That’s why its better to get an older, secondhand model in order to keep your wallet wealthy.

Bookcases/Storage Units
Figure out how much space you need to display your personal items and try and find a consignment shop that has a simple, secondhand display case for all your personal needs. This can be super low on the priority list too, since most of your items will stay in a box until you have the time to display them all on a shelf.

Hopefully, these tips will have you thinking twice about buying all new furniture for your future home.
