Because you really wanna get that stimulus check.

Starting this week, the IRS is going to begin sending out the stimulus payment checks to (almost) every American citizen. If you’re making under 75,000 annually, congratulations, you’ve got $1,200 coming your way. If you haven’t filed your taxes yet, however, that might be a problem, because the IRS determines your eligibility for the stimulus check based on your most recent tax return. If you filed last year and your living situation is exactly the same, then fine, but if not, you’re gonna want to get on that promptly.

Online tax service TurboTax, with the blessing of the IRS, has created an expedited tax portal for those who need to file a quick-and-dirty return in time to get their stimulus check. The page features a survey/calculator that will tell you whether or not you’re elligible for the stimulus check and, if you are, how much you’re entitled to. Once you’ve got that information, the page has quick links you can use to get started on your taxes or, if you don’t need to file a return for whatever reason, send your current mailing address and direct deposit banking info directly to the IRS.

If you’ve never used TurboTax before, don’t worry, it’s easy. Just get your W2s out and any relevant housing, family, and income info, and follow the prompts. Badda-bing, badda-boom, you’re done. Takes like thirty minutes, an hour, tops.

Just a reminder, the first wave of checks will be sent out this week to those who have their direct deposit info on file with the IRS. You should get the money in your checking account around Tuesday. Everyone who files after that should receive the money in relatively short order, likely within the next one to two weeks. The IRS has announced that they will send everyone who receives a check a memo in the mail to confirm it was sent 15 days after the fact.
