The Dark Times are Over for This LED Business

Mr. Michael Fischer is no dim bulb.

As the economy remains strong, yet troubled, and political discourse grows less and less tasteful, we could all use some good news. Fortunately, there are always business success stories for us all to draw some inspiration from. Even in a stronger economy, the idea of a recession or any form of financial misfortune still haunts people. Forget the news about automation and future unemployment for a moment, and listen to one business owner’s story of a happy ending.

Success takes a lot of experimentation for most people. You need to try, fail, then try again until you get it right. For Michael Fischer, these lessons are all clearly understood. Michael runs a company that manufactures and distributes energy-efficient LED lighting. Michael has also had to deal with the perils of the business world, and his lights haven’t always been on in recent years. He started off in computer software, developing software controls for telephone systems. 15 years ago, that business was booming and Michael wanted to expand the business further and take the business to new heights. In 2007, customers stopped calling and sales slowed down rather quickly, while the bills did not. Michael had no choice but to lay off his employees and close down the business. The recession was not easy for him and he had to scratch just to get by, barely able to afford gas. Michael and a colleague worked software jobs when they could, but Michael kept his passion for tinkering up, and it paid.

Michael had to reinvent his company after the recession. The business of LED lights was picking up pace, and Michael was willing to work hard and travel to meet new clients and make money. His new business went on to succeed while Michael hasn’t forgotten what got him where he is. While the economy is beyond an individual’s control, Michael still continues to tinker and push boundaries in order to power through any challenges that come his way. Michael now has warehouses in two states, and over 30 employees.
