Starbucks To Deliver Across US With Uber Eats’ Help

Starbucks is making some moves that will see coffee delivery taken nationwide in 2020.

Starbucks announced on Tuesday that it would be expanding its partnership with Uber Eats. Currently, Starbucks conducts deliveries in only 11 American cities, but the idea of delivery coffee has recently moved from a novelty to an idea which is taken very seriously in the coffee and delivery industries. Starbucks began its partnership with Uber Eats in 2018, with pilot projects in Miami and Tokyo. The project was expanded to other American cities in January, as well as to London, while also completing deliveries in China through Ele.me, an Alibaba-backed platform.

Many major cities around the world already have a Starbucks on every corner. This is why it’s easier to test working with Uber Eats first, in cities where there are more stores available in a smaller space. Starbucks’ current goal is to expand the delivery service to 3000 stores in 50 states by the fall. Seeing as things are going so well, there is no reason to believe that Starbucks will slow down anytime soon. The company has been pulling coffee delivery into the mainstream, and it is currently set to slowly expand its delivery service into more sparsely populated areas. They should be able to cover 70% of the US during 2019. “Partnering with Uber Eats helps us take another step towards bringing Starbucks to customers wherever they are,” Starbucks Group President and COO Roz Brewer said in a statement.
