If you are an Amazon Prime member, you are now eligible for 1-day free shipping on over 10 million items.

Amazon has been faced with some stiff competition in the US in recent months. Now that Amazon Prime membership gets you 1-day free shipping, some domestic retailers have been offering the same deal. Despite this, Amazon has continued to innovate and change the game, and now the company has hit another milestone.

Amazon’s new 1-day shipping initiative applies to over 10 million items on their storefront. The company indeed announced that they are working to make 1-day shipping the new standard for Prime members and it would appear that everything is going according to plan.

This news comes as a counter-punch to Walmart, which announced it would launch a 1-day free shipping service of its own in a jab at Amazon. Despite this, Walmart can only offer 200,000 of their most popular items for one-day free shipping.

Amazon is also reminding people that this is a part of a long-term plan, and that the catalog will continue to grow, and one-day free shipping will be expanded to include even more products. Amazon has already been experimenting with delivery times globally. British Prime members can also currently receive one-day free shipping, while Japanese Prime members often get same-day free shipping. The company can also boast that one-day free shipping is currently larger than Prime two-day shipping was in 2005. The one thing that remains to be seen is exactly how long it’ll be before one-day free shipping is the default assumption for the 100 million-plus Prime members.
