Inspire Brands Now Owns Arby’s, Sonic, And Buffalo Wild Wings

The fast food industry is heating up with another company buyout that seems like an unlikely partnership. The parent company to Arby’s, known as Inspire Brands, has reached out to offer the classic diner/fast food chain Sonic a $2.3 billion deal including debt. But the deal gets even more complicated than that.

In order to analyze this, we have to rewind to when Arby’s acquired Buffalo Wild Wings. That was when Inspire Brands was officially created as a company to oversee the chain restaurants. Despite Sonic continuing to operate independently out of Oklahoma, the deal will definitely impact the branding of the company indefinitely.

The deal ended up coming out to being $1.57 billion in cash, whereas the rest of the $2.3 billion comes from Sonic’s $43.50 per share costs. In terms of Inspire, the company’s individual shares hit an all-time high after the announcement, surging to $44.87 per. Meanwhile, Inspire’s CEO believes that Sonic is a unique restaurant idea that will be an “ideal fit” for the company moving forward in fast food diversity. Under inspire, they will now control over 8,000 restaurants with a combined $12 billion in system sales.
