Boeing’s troubles aren’t over, but they will now be overseen by a business crisis veteran.

The company’s new Chief Executive, David Calhoun, has overseen other industrial crises, and he is now launching himself right into the middle of Boeing’s.

Two crashes that left hundreds dead have put Boeing’s business into a period of instability. However, the company is trusting that Calhoun can weather the storm and take them onto the right course.

Calhoun is no stranger to working under pressure. He was in charge of the General Electric division that produced airplane engines after the attacks on September 11th, 2001. In 2017, he became the chairman of Caterpillar Inc’s board just after federal agents raided the company’s headquarters.

Since the two 737 Max crashes killed all 340 aboard the planes, Boeing has come under intense international scrutiny. The entire 737 fleet was grounded worldwide in March, and it looks like the planes will stay on the ground until at least next year. Boeing has stated that it hopes to have the planes flying by 2020, but US aviation safety regulators have warned that the planes will not be ready to take off again that quickly.

“Under the company’s new leadership, Boeing will operate with a renewed commitment to full transparency, including effective and proactive communication with the FAA [Federal Aviation Administration], other global regulators and its customers,” Boeing said in a statement. For now, many have welcomed the change in Boeing’s top leadership. However, US regulators are not entirely convinced, and there have been calls for bigger changes in the company’s leadership from victim’s family members and US senators.
