“Black Panther” Claws Its Way To $700 Million

The hype for the movie “Black Panther” has yet to quiet down, as it has just reached over $700 million at the domestic box office. Not only this is immensely exciting for Marvel, but its actually becoming record-breaking news.

“Black Panther” is only the third film in history to make over $700 million in the U.S., making it Marvel’s top-grossing entry for the country as well as their most successful U.S. films. Additionally, it has made over $600 million out of the country, bringing its total gross to over $1.3 billion.

Not only is this numerically historical, it shows the power of what an African-America cast can bring to the silver screen. The only two movies that currently top its $700 million domestic gross are “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” and “Avatar.”

Guaranteed, the movie deserves the praise it has garnered. It’s already starting to get some Oscar buzz for later this year, and the movie recently got an exhibit announced at the Smithsonian. Granted, we’re riding the “Black Panther” train all the way, hoping it continues its successes and continues to break records, both financially and for Hollywood.
