As Brexit Comes Closer, More Brits Against Leaving EU

If the lead-up to Brexit could be described with two words, they would likely be “fear” and “uncertainty.”

The lead-up to the UK’s eventual departure from the EU has seen wild fluctuations in currency exchange rates and stock market prices. Of course, whenever big news breaks there will be changes in the markets. However, another constant that we have seen is that the closer the UK moves towards Brexit, the more divisive the opinion polls are; as Brexit has moved closer, Brits have become more against it.

According to polling, the majority of Brits would support a second Brexit referendum if Prime Minister Theresa May attempts a no-deal Brexit. The polls have revealed a consistent majority in favor of remaining in the EU. The polls also revealed that if there is to be another referendum, it should not be a repeat of the 2016 one where the only choices were “remain” or “leave.”

Brexit is technically less than two weeks away. While the Brexit deadline is March 29th, the deadline can change if EU leaders agree to an extension to the Article 50 withdrawal process. They will meet to discuss the potential changes later this week.
