Tokyo’s Ending Industry Exhibit

Every year, thousands of people gather in Tokyo for one of the strangest conventions held in the world. It’s all about funerals, and it brings a ton of business and economic growth to the Japanese city. A strange concept, indeed, but there’s actually a reason why its so prominent.

It is expected that the number of yearly deaths of Japanese citizens will increase every year until 2040. This makes sense due to how rapidly our global population has grown. However, what Japan is counting on is the millions of yen per head that the funeral industry will bring to the economy.

This year, the conference brought in over 300 different companies, each advertising services from hearses to cremation and coffin services. The turn-out for this year was more than double last year, and there is also an increasing number of people who are interested in pet funerals, which even adds to potential market growth.

Or, there are niche markets where you can get a mobile pet crematorium, or get your ashes sent to the sky in a cloud. Whatever you want for your funeral to be perfect, you can probably find it at the Ending Industry Exhibit.
