Tips For Flying First Class

Whether you’re traveling for business or pleasure, first class is always the way to be. But, often times, we avoid paying the extra fees to fly in style. From more leg room and space to meals and drinks, first class is a luxury most of us covet. Don’t worry, there are ways to get the hot seat without having to pay extra. Here are some tips to ensure that you get that upgrade you’ve been longing for on your next trip:

1. Use a travel rewards credit card: There are plenty out there, and you don’t have to travel to stock up on miles. Most airlines have their own, but some credit card companies offer across the board travel rewards. Make sure you look into the fine print before choosing your card…some travel reward cards have quite a few hoops you have to jump through to utilize your points.

2. Complain about something: Though this seems a little out there, politely pointing out a problem like a busted seat or odd situation could get you bumped up without much more effort.

3. Loyalty to one airline: Most airlines have some form of frequent flyer miles that accumulate with each trip you book through said airline. If you remain loyal to one airline, you can easily accumulate miles and use them towards higher status and reward travel.

4. Travel when it’s slow: Choose times during the week or throughout the year that aren’t hot travel times. Of course, traveling on the holidays or spring break won’t offer you much comfort, so plan your trip during a slow travel period. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are great days to book travel.

5. Book your flight through the airline’s website: Loyalty may again catch you a break.

6. Phone a friend: Buddy passes can be used for those who work for airlines…so find a buddy who works for an airline!
