MoviePass Product Manager Makes Heated Departure

Movie ticketing company MoviePass has been on hard financial times for the past year, with constant changes to their subscription services and being knocked down to the penny market. If a 700-word company-wide email sent by the company’s now former product manager, Eric Jeng, is any indication, the company’s state has taken a heavy toll on its employees.

In the email obtained by Business Insider, Jeng announced his formal resignation from his position and the company. In the email, he condemned the upper management of MoviePass for belittling and overworking employees. Jeng also mentioned unannounced allegations of inappropriate behavior by an executive hinted to be marketing consultant Bob Ellis toward female employees, and praised the employees who were fired for standing up for themselves.

Jeng continued to condemn company executives for making lavish purchases with company funds while the company is struggling. “Our employees are working late hours, sometimes until 1 a.m. and on holidays to build, develop, and release new MoviePass features and products, while fearful of the financial future and stability of the company. It sends an incredibly selfish message to MoviePass employees that members of management are living lavishly and seemingly carefree, with no concern for the company or its employees.”

MoviePass declined to comment on the situation.
