Earlier this month, Apple removed Tumblr from its app store. For most Apple users this seemed to be a random and unexplained removal. Some people even speculated that it was a glitch and that the app would be back on the store soon. As time went on and the app still was not back on the app store, people started to suspect there was a reason. That reason has finally been released and it may be shocking to some.
Apple removed the app after finding child pornography on the Tumblr site. Apple has strong guidelines against this type of material, so the app was quickly removed from the store. They even have rules stating that all apps must have software to filter such materials off their apps. Tumblr did claim that, after Apple found that material, it was quickly removed from their site, but Apple still has not put the app back on its store.
Tumblr said getting their app back on the app store is a top priority of theirs. As of now, there is no time frame on when the app might be returned. The Tumblr app is still available on the Google app store for Android users.
