The Supreme Court recently ruled the nationwide ban on sports betting as unconstitutional. This ruling gives each individual state the power to legalize this once underground act. Delaware, Mississippi, New York, Pennsylvania and West Virginia have all already shown interest in legalizing sports betting. Additionally, Monmouth Park racetrack in New Jersey hopes to begin taking sports bets within two weeks of this ruling. With $150 billion wagered illegally last year, the hope is that legalization will give states a cut of this money.
