The Rich Really Are Getting Richer

Money Makes Money

Capgemini released the 2017 World Wealth Report today, and the amount of millionaires in the world has continued to grow. In short, more than one million people became millionaires last year.

The North American HNWI (High Net Worth Individual) growth rates matched the global HNWI growth rates, coming in at 7.5 percent. According to Capgemini, this represents, “large leaps in both North America and Europe and a slightly decelerated growth in Asia-Pacific.”

The amount of millionaires in 2016 was 16.5 million, as compared to 8.6 million in 2008. That is a steep yet swift climb, and affirms the age-old adage that the rich keep getting richer.

The United States still tops the charts with the most millionaires per country, coming in at 4.8 million. Japan comes in second with 2.9 million, followed by China with 1.28 million.
