Target Easing Up On “Christmas Creeping”

It’s Time To Enjoy Thanksgiving

It’s almost Halloween…which, according to retail stores everywhere, means it’s apparently almost Christmas, too. Target has come out and said it will ease up on the “Christmas creep” this year.

The infamous “Christmas Creep” is a tactic used by many retailers to get ahead on Christmas sales. They will introduce Christmas-themed merchandise long before the holiday season, in some cases as early as Halloween time.

Target wants to change the game, after some backlash from their customers. The retail powerhouse will ease up on Christmas-themed signs and decorations near the front entrance namely, until after Thanksgiving.

“[Customers] want us to pause, and be really intentional and recognize Thanksgiving,” said Target CMO, Rick Gomez.
