Naomi Osaka Signs Biggest Adidas Deal In History For A Female Athlete

Naomi Osaka has just signed the biggest deal Adidas has ever had with a female athlete. After winning the US open last Saturday, Naomi Osaka became the first Japanese woman to play and win a Grand Slam title after defeating her idol, Serena Williams.

Now, she has signed an $8.5 million dollar annual deal with the sporting goods company. During the game, Osaka wore the company’s gear. The young athlete has been dubbed a branding sensation after winning the game.

This deal will make the 20 year old one of the highest paid female athletes of the year. She also reportedly has several more deals in the works with other companies, including the car company Nissan.

The half-Japanese, half-Haitian tennis star is now iconic in Japan, her home country. Many other brands are set to jump to the opportunity to represent the young athlete.

This year’s US open final was controversial due to Serena Williams’ argument with the umpire that cost her several points, and this seemingly overshadowed Osaka’s victory in the news for several days after the game. However, Osaka’s performance against the renowned athlete Williams was excellent, and fans of the sport, including Williams, have heaped high praises on Osaka.
