What Do Americas Regret The Most About Their Money?

We all have regrets. Some haunt us every day. But when it comes to money, what is the biggest regret Americans have? GoBankingRates decided to find out in a survey with 5,000 individuals. The results? Not surprising. But if you look at all of the answers and see how they apply to your own life, it might make you more conscious of your habits.

The number one financial regret, with 36 percent of respondents noting this, is not saving enough money. Additionally, 11 percent regretted not investing in the stock market. Putting money aside for growth is something that a lot of people overlook in the present, but are more likely to regret in the future.

23 percent of Americans believe it was shopping that was their biggest regret. Spending money on nonessentials is always a habit that’s hard to break, but when you turn back and look at the fiscal year, you’ll be able to see how much you could have saved by not buying that one Starbucks drink.

Be careful though, because the older you get, the more likely you are to regret your financial decisions. Make plans now in order to ensure you don’t have the same regrets these Americans did.
