Bitcoin & Other Cryptocurrencies Fall

Bitcoin, along with other cryptocurrencies, has fallen to its lowest levels since last year. Monday morning saw prices fall, with Bitcoin, the largest cryptocurrency, falling 4.8%.

Ripple, the second largest cryptocurrency by market cap has fallen over 5%, and Ethereum took a particularly steep drop of over 8%. All of the top 20 currencies listed on coinmarketcap have taken a fall.

The turmoil the cryptocurrency markets went through in 2018 left many people disillusioned, and many observers wrote off cryptocurrencies altogether. The current global cryptocurrency market cap is still over $100 billion, and the figure is still changing by the hundreds of millions on a daily basis. The global market cap peaked in early January of 2018, when it reached over $800 billion for a few days. Cryptocurrencies have sparked widespread suspicion due to their violent fluctuations and current lack of regulation in the ICO space. That being said, the cryptocurrency space is still as busy as ever and new developments take place every day.
