Beyoncé & Jay-Z Want To Give Out $1.1 Million In Scholarships

Beyoncé and Jay-Z have decided to grace attendees of their “On The Run 2” tour with $100,000 scholarships. The latest winner, who attended the latest concert in Arizona, didn’t even know she was nominated for the award. But each night, new high school students get college scholarships to help them get ahead in their academic career.

17 year old Mikayla Lowry was at the Phoenix concert when she won, while Keyshawn Morgan won the scholarship in Orlando. The initiative from the powerhouse couple comes from the BeyGOOD foundation and The Shawn Carter Foundation, named after Beyoncé and Jay-Z respectively. The two teamed up with the Boys and Girls Club of America in order to distribute around $1.1 million total scholarships for high school students.

In order to qualify for the scholarship, students must be both academically exceptional and financially in need. Unsurprisingly, this isn’t the first time that superstars have reached out to fans in order to help them persevere in academic excellence. Nicki Minaj has also given out a lot of money through scholarships, mostly announcing her winners over Twitter.
