Zuckerberg Has No Plans to Give Up Facebook Chairman Position

With a myriad of controversies surrounding it and stock options slipping, Facebook’s board of directors are desperate for a change to get things back into the black. Their current strategy is to apply pressure to the chairman, the infamous Mark Zuckerberg. Several members of the board are planning a power play to force Zuckerberg to step down and allow for a new, more open-ended form of management to take over the company. However, despite the board being out for his head, Zuckerberg has chosen to stand his ground.

In an interview with CNN, Zuckerberg stressed that he currently has no plans to cede the chairman position to anyone else within the company. In his own words, “that’s simply not the plan.” In his comments, he also gave praise to another target of controversy, Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg. “Sheryl is a really important part of this company and is leading a lot of the efforts for a lot of the biggest issues that we have,” Zuckerberg said. “She’s been an important partner to me for ten years. I’m really proud of the work that we’ve done together and I hope that we work together for decades more to come.”

It seems that no matter what barbs are thrown his way, Zuckerberg is firm in his belief that he and his website are in the right. Whether or not that belief will sway his board remains to be seen.
