Why Saving Money Is Sexier Than Spending It!

Size Does Matter … When It Comes to Your Savings!

Believe it or not, you’re automatically more attractive if you save money, according to a report from Michigan State University School of Business.

According to a working paper from the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business, people who save money are more attractive as potential dates than people who spend money. The paper states that being frugal with money might be a desirable reflection of other qualities in a date like having discipline and self-control to rep the long term benefits of a committed relationship or a lifestyle that includes eating healthy food and exercising.

The researchers quantified their findings by writing “it is notable that we observed this pattern in the shadow of the Great Recession, a time in which people who chronically spend may be viewed as especially irresponsible. Whether savers continue to be preferred in times of economic abundance (when active saving is less necessary for financial survival) is an important open question.”

The dating site eHarmony even took a look at their matches made in 2010 and found that people who described themselves as savers received 25% more messages than people who were interested in meeting them then self-described spenders.

A survey from 2012 found that 73% of respondents would keep dating someone who used a coupon to save money on their date. This was a very interesting study that really makes you sit back and think about the future and what you hope to offer a potential mate.
