Why Haven’t You Heard From The Hiring Manager Yet?

A few weeks back, we talked about job candidates ghosting employers. Now, its time to tackle the reverse question on why hiring managers might be ghosting you. Just as a refresher, ghosting is simply the act of not contacting or calling back. So here’s why the hiring manager of the interview you just had probably isn’t contacting you.

1. Lack Of Clarity
If you were not clear on how to be contacted, they might have just said “We don’t know how to contact this person, so we’re moving on.” Make sure you list your contact info boldly on your resume, every email you send, and even tell them in person during the interview. It could just be miscommunication.

2. No Follow Up
Maybe the employer is waiting for you to contact them. This shows initiative in the job hunting process and might impress the employer directly.

3. Finacnes
This section can be divided into two concepts. First off, the job company itself doesn’t have their budget ready to onboard you. I once had to wait a month for a callback because corporate wasn’t aligned properly. Secondly, your salary isn’t ready so they need to make sure that’s in check first.

4. Early Application
If you’re one of the first to apply, the employer probably wants to get a pool of candidates before they make their decision, regardless of if you were the best or not.

Patience is key in the job hunting world, but never stop looking.
