U.N. Musical Director Under Fire for Embezzling from Charity Concert

A professional musician has been accused of stealing money meant for homeless children after allegedly embezzling $750,000 dollars from a charity concert. The money was apparently taken by Robin DiMaggio, a man who was at one time a music director for the United Nations, and played drums for The Arsenio Hall Show’s band. DiMaggio used some of the money to buy an expensive home in Calabasas, California for his ex-wife. The funds were meant for DiMaggio to secure musical acts for a charity concert, in which the money earned would be used to help children that are victims of homelessness, abuse, and displacement due to war.

According to the federal prosecutors investigating the embezzlement, he also used some of the money to pay off credit card debt, bought cars, and used it to serve several lavish living expenses. DiMaggio was arrested last Friday by the FBI, and is facing what could be up to a 20 year prison sentence. The prosecutors have stated that Robin simply took the money, which came from a Bulgaria based charity foundation, and used it for his own personal needs without remorse. DiMaggio committed the egregious theft of almost a million dollars in 2016, and the concert meant to help children in dire situations was never held. After being asked to return the money, DiMaggio attempted to stall for time, which has ultimately caught up with him this year.
