The Tooth Fairy’s Current Rate

How Much to Tip for a Tooth…

Every parent has gone through the dilemma of the tooth fairy, ranging form a quarter to a Franklin, the tooth fairy’s reward has gone up and up leaving parents wondering, how much is your kid’s tooth really worth? Wondering what kind of jackpot to leave under your sleeping angel’s head, wonder no more. Here’s a reality check for the good old tooth fairy.

On average the tooth fairy leaves around $5, just over that, but the percentage has increased by more than 25% between 2013 and last year. Obviously the tooth fairy’s stocks are doing a little bit better these days and she’s feeling a little more confident with the household spending.

Sometimes there are other factors to be considered than just a family budget to stick to. Parents in New York are not feeling a social pressure, when their child came home and told them their school friends are getting $20 a tooth!

Then there’s the argument of whether or not the first tooth is worth more? The best course of action is to set a price and then be consistent. Leave the same amount every tooth., it’s supposed to be a token, something special.

One great idea is to leave a dollar coin that the US mint puts out with a different president every year. It also create a teachable moment, who’s that president on the coin? Linden B. Johnson, let me tell you about him. It creates a special moment rather than just a monetary reward.
