The New Race for Drone Cargo Deliveries

A serious project is currently underway, and like many things in the world today, it could change everything.

If you’re interested in drones, then you are probably having the time of your life right now. UPS recently completed the first delivery of medical samples in the US, and now a competition supported by the Tanzanian government may bring about the world’s first cargo-carrying drones.

The Lake Victoria Challenge (LVC) in Tanzania is drawing in the young talent needed to bring drone delivery to the next step. The hopes are high that the LVC could produce the world’s first commercial drone delivery service, powered by bigger, better, and smarter drones. However, there are no flights of fancy at the LVC, as the idea is both a technological one, but also a regulatory one. Simply put, current regulations around the world are not keeping up with the pace of drone innovation. This is where it is hoped events like the LVC could make a difference, changing the technological and regulatory landscape.

Lake Victoria wasn’t chosen by accident. The lake has many islands and ideal conditions for such an event, so if you are interested in drones and their capabilities, then there is plenty to see at the LVC.
