Save Money, Live Better: Streaming Services

With the amount of streaming services we are all subscribed to like Netflix, Amazon Prime, Spotify, Apple Music and others, the amount of monthly subscription fees we pay quickly rack up. One way to eliminate these costs is to unsubscribe from the unnecessary additions and to make sure you only have one subscription for music, tv, etc.

Or, you could wait for Walmart’s new streaming service. While the proposed service would be a direct rival to Netflix and Amazon, it would only cost around 8 dollars a month, which is significantly less than what other streaming services charge. Their goal when creating this new platform was to make it “budget friendly” so consumers would stop paying ridiculous amounts to get on demand content.

Walmart plans to roll out the streaming service as an addition to Vudu, an on-demand service they purchased back in 2010. Vudu allows you to rent and purchase movies and is available on most consoles and devices like the Roku. Walmart’s potential streaming service could raise the company’s gross profits, which would be another way for the retailer to cash in on a service that everyone else is already offering.

No one really watches live TV anymore, so having an additional service that not only costs less but functions the same as some of the most popular names in the streaming game could be a smart move for the retail superstore. There’s no word on when it will launch, but it could be a huge success, or a financial bust since it will have so much competition.
