Retailers Rejoice After Biggest Black Friday To Date

Increase In Black Friday And Cyber Monday Sales

Retailers everywhere have a lot to be thankful for after the infamous Black Friday, and as of more recently, Cyber Monday. Online sales skyrocket as a record breaking $5.03 billion was spent online after the Thanksgiving holiday. Adobe Digital Insights takes the online transactions from the 100 largest online retailers to pull these statistics.

This record breaking year reflects a 17% increase from last year’s online sales. But, this wasn’t the only change from the previous year. It would appear that more and more online shoppers opted to use their smartphones to make their discounted purchases, as computers accounted for less than half of the transactions made. Phones were responsible for 60% of the traffic to retail sites.

But, don’t worry about the physical stores themselves. The foot traffic to and from stores was relatively unchanged, only seeing a 1% decrease from the previous year. Hopefully that means you got your Christmas shopping done early!
