Research Shows You Don’t Have To Take A Long Vacation From Work To Enjoy It

With the colder months upon us, taxes needing to be prepared and another end-of-the-year crunch period, it’s easy to look ahead towards a vacation in 2018. Well, why don’t you treat yourself then?

Many people imagine the longer the vacation, the better it will be. But, recent scientific research begs to differ. Your happiness levels tend to peak around day 8 of your vacation, which means a vacation that is 7-10 days in length is perfect. Of course, the farther you go, you may need to ad an extra day or two. This isn’t just to get the most out of your vacation, but also to let your body adjust to the travel.

According to W. Christopher Winter, M.D., a sleep specialist and neurologist, “when you travel, it takes time for your body’s chemicals to shift and re-establish that rhythm.”

The key here is you don’t need to pull yourself away from your desk for a month to get recharged and ready for another busy and profitable year, but it is important to take care of yourself!
