Business seems to be booming in the restaurant industry, but why is that happening? It might actually be because a lot of restaurants nowadays are banning the use of cellphones within their walls. In order to foster a more intimate experience in which customers can really delve into the experience, this tactic started because owners feel like we’re spending too much time looking at social media rather than interacting in social conversations with our dining companions.
Is banning cellphones in restaurants a good choice? Some guests might be turned off if they go to a restaurant and can’t use their phone, so there is a potential loss of business for owners to implement this. Would it ever be something that we see at a large chain restaurant? Probably not… but would smaller “mom and pop” restaurants might take on that idea to make their already special dining experience a little more intimate. Although, those are the restaurants that would take more of a risk for a loss in revenue.
