Netflix’s Mobile App Generated 90% More Revenue This Year

Netflix had the number-one grossing app was not a game in this past quarter, generating approximately $243.7 million on the Apple App Store and Google Play. This means that the revenue generated by the App is up 90 percent from $128.2 million in revenue this time last year.

This is mostly attributed to downloads with Apple, and this means good things for the tech company too as they take 30 percent of the App’s generated revenue. Netflix has stated that it has earned $1.4 billion from the mobile app since it was introduced in 2010.

The company has more than 600 million apps installed worldwide, with 50 million new users this past year. This indicates that utilizing smartphones has been a massive success for Netflix, which are perfect for people on the go to watch TV shows and movies.

When Netflix started in 1998, it would have been difficult to conceive that twenty years later, almost everyone would be walking around with a small computer in our pockets capable of playing movies on demand. But Netflix has certainly made the right moves during the technological innovations of the past two decades, cornering part of the online streaming market early on that sky rocketed their success.
