Naomi Osaka’s Historic Adidas Deal

Naomi Osaka has proven her worth these past weeks by successfully beating Serena Williams at the U.S. Grand Open with a 6-2, 6-4 singles victory. After controversial calls by the referee and a storm spurred up by her opponent, you would think the spotlight may have shifted back to Serena. However, while Williams received a large fine, it isOsaka who is recieving the largest deal for a female athlete in the history of Adidas.

The tennis superstar has agreed to an $8.5 minion deal that would make her the second highest paid female athlete in the world, right under Williams. But still, Williams was never able to pull this much money from Adidas. And that’s not the end of Osaka’s winning streak. There was speculation that she would have another huge deal flying her way, and now she will be headlining the auto industry as well.

Nissan decided to make Osaka their new brand ambassador, citing that her “youth, drive, and Japanese roots” would help to appeal to hopeful buyers of the car and increase sales. On the topic of the subject, Osaka said that when she was little, “my father drove a Nissan, so it feels like I’ve come full circle.”
