Michael Jackson’s Iconic ‘Bad’ Jacket Up for Charity Auction

On his first solo tour, Michael Jackson wore a distinctive black leather jacket. This jacket, which is also featured on the cover of the ‘Bad’ album and in the ‘Bad’ music video, is covered in numerous buckles and zippers and has Jackson’s autograph in silver marker on the back. It is considered one of the performer’s most iconic looks. On November 10th, 2018, one lucky collector will have the chance to own this piece of pop history.

On November 10th, a musical memorabilia auction hosted by Julian’s Auctions will be held at the Hard Rock Cafe in Times Square, New York. Among multiple famous instruments and accessories, the ‘Bad’ jacket will be up for auction. The jacket’s owner, Texas businessman and philanthropist Milton Verret, owns over 100 pieces of rock memorabilia, all of which will be up for auction. Verret also owns another Jackson classic, the red jacket from the ‘Thriller’ video, though that one is sadly not for sale. A portion of the proceeds from the auction will go toward MusicCares, a charity organization owned by The Recording Academy that provides various health services to musicians. Memorabilia experts expect the ‘Bad’ jacket to fetch up to $100,000 for its sale.
