Largo Haunted House Raises Money for Red Tide Cleanup

In Largo, Florida, business owner Mike Lowe has crafted a special haunted house in order raise money for the cleanup efforts of the red tide that has been plaguing Florida for the last month. The attraction, Scarehouse Pinellas, features an exaggerated story line about the red tide infecting humans and transforming them into zombies and mutants. Lowe’s associates have been aiding in the cleanup effort, and he wanted to help people understand the negative effects red tide has not just on the ocean, but on the people who live nearby.

The attraction also features a killer clown circus and a walkway of horror films. Profits from admissions are going to the SPCA Tampa Bay, a non-profit animal shelter, while concession profits are going to the red tide cleanup. Lowe is currently researching additional ways to bolster the cleanup effort.
