How Being A “Yes Man Or Woman” Dilutes Your Role As A Leader

Saying No Isn’t Always A Bad Thing In Business

Mark Zuckerberg says he works with people that in other circumstances, he would be working for. As Entrepreneur Editor-In-Chief Jason Feifer explains, in order to be a strong leader, you must understand your shortcomings. Once you understand those shortcomings, you can then surround yourself with people who complete the missing pieces.

“When leaders get defensive, they close themselves off…and they’re not seeing outside of their own limitations,” Feifer explains.

One of the biggest mistakes leaders make, Feifer expresses, is they don’t know when to say no. You cannot say yes to everything and expect dilution not to take place. It’s okay to cross things off of your list to get a clearer direction for yourself or your company, otherwise, you have too much chaos to ever focus on one issue or one direction.

Feifer emphasizes that it’s perfectly fine to say no as a leader because a concise goal is better than a diluted goal.
