Discovery Jumps into Streaming

Discovery and the BBC have teamed up to launch a new digital streaming service.

If you like Netflix, but wish they had more nature-related content, we have good news for you. Discovery has now joined the many other large companies that have decided to enter the streaming race. While other companies like Apple and Disney have also launched digital streaming services, you can expect Discovery to stick to their niche regarding any new content. The BBC announced on Monday that they would enter a content partnership with Discovery in order to provide a higher quality of streamed content for subscribers. The combined intellectual property rights of the two companies will help both of them. The BBC’s iconic natural history, animals, adventure, science, travel, space, history and civilization documentaries will all be featured on Discovery’s new streaming service.

The two companies will also be working together to create new and original content. Discovery believes that with this content being both streamed and watched on television, their global reach will become much further. This would not be unprecedented, as Discovery and the BBC have worked together before on masterpieces such as Planet Earth and Blue Planet.
