Dental Insurance Benefits and Costs

Your trip to the dentist always ends with the advice, “You need to floss more.” Many don’t realize the money they can save on dental bills if they implement the proper daily dental routine.

Many don’t realize the cost comparison between daily dental care versus leaving the dentist to repair the damage done, due to improper dental hygiene patterns. The daily dental care routine calls for a toothbrush, floss, and mouthwash. All these items combined to provide at least a month’s worth of products comes to around $20.

Comparing the cost of the daily dental routine items and a visit to the dentist office can be overwhelming. According to MemberBenefits.com the average price of a check-up with your dentist is average $288 that covers x-rays, examination, and cleaning. Filling can range in price due to amount of work need and quality of the material that ranges from $50 to $4,500 for a single tooth filling.

Extractions can range from $75 to $650 depending on the amount of teeth needing work and if they provide medication during the procedure. Some extractions cost more due to placement and status of the condition of the teeth. Crowns are one of the highest valued dental procedures that can cost a minimal $328 and can reach up to $776 for a higher quality material.

This leaves some to question if dental insurance is worth the investment. Most dental insurance policies cover 100 percent costs for annual routine care, 80 percent covers costs of basic procedures, and 50 percent covers major procedures.
