Could ‘Space Jam 2’ Be A Billion Dollar Movie?

One of the top 10 highest grossing films ever, Black Panther, went to make over $1 billion across the worldwide box office. Now, director Ryan Coogler has officially taken on his next project in hopes that it will match up to his previous movies’ success… and he’s got a very successful partner helping him tag-team the project: Lebron James. Coogler will be producing the film, but according to many sources in Hollywood, he’s one of the most sought-after artists in the film industry right now.

The Looney Tunes/basketball crossover movie stole the hearts of America for its out-of-the-box and unpredictable nature. The rumor of a sequel has been brewing for a while now, but with the final confirmation, we can truly assess if this movie has any place in the box office in 2019, when it’s expected to release.

This movie will be riding in on the hype train of Black Panther and the nostalgia train from the original movie. Looney Tunes is not a huge franchise for Warner Bros. at the moment; but that doesn’t mean it can’t be successful. If Coogler brings with him the success of his Marvel project to the new Space Jam, it could very well be one of the biggest openings of the next year… or a huge bust.
