Constant Innovation is the Key to Amazon’s Success

Not unlike a massive gelatinous blob, Amazon is constantly shifting and growing.

Amazon makes the news quite often, and it’s usually for the best reasons. The company simply pushes our boundaries and expectations, and their secret (or not-so-secret) sauce is constant innovation.

Amazon has already changed the way that tens of millions of people around the world think about online shopping. Now they are trying to do so again, and a recent $800 million investment paints a clear picture as to how. The company wants to perfect its delivery process, and has made an $800 million investment into doing so, primarily through one day free shipping for Prime members. While Amazon already has same day delivery in the US, the service is very limited geographically, and only small shipments can be made so quickly. Now, Amazon is looking to spread the feature everywhere.

Amazon has certainly left a lot of destruction in its wake, and still faces stiff domestic competition from major retailers like Walmart. Regardless, Amazon keeps winning the game on its own terms and on its own ground: the internet. While Walmart and a few other companies have already matched Amazon’s pledge of one day free shipping, none of them can match the scope and raw innovative power which Amazon has demonstrated. It is currently unknown when Amazon will roll out its one day free shipping service in earnest.
