Box Office Breakdown: “Fallout” Does Not Fall Short

Tom Cruise may have fumbled hard in Universal’s remake of “The Mummy,” but he redeemed his credibility by starring in this weekend’s box-office breaker: “Mission Impossible 6.” Subtitled “Fallout,” the film was anything but a fallout at the box office, earning $61.5 million at the domestic box office alone. This is most likely due to Cruise’s death-defying stunts that he did with little help from a stunt double. The action-packed film wound up having the highest opening from any “Mission Impossible” movie in the franchise’s history.

Globally, the weekend pull from the film hit over $150 million, most likely thanks to its “A” CinemaScore rating. This was the first time a “Mission Impossible” movie had achieved that rating. “Fallout” also boasts a 98% Fresh score on the popular movie review website, Rotten Tomatoes.

Kyle Davies, Paramount’s Distribution Chief compares Fallout to other summer hit movies and why it stands out by saying the following: “We’ve had all these big visual-effects driven summer movies. Now comes a movie where the actor and director are putting it all on the line with real stunts. It provides raw and visceral excitement that people are excited about.

The Christoper McQuarrie-directed film is expected to continue its run as a box-office success as one of the “must-see” movies of the summer. Looks like Cruise is back on top with another success under his belt.
