‘Avengers: Endgame’ Obliterates the Box Office

Didn’t need the Time Gem to see this one coming.

After fans have passionately waited for a year, Avengers: Endgame is finally out. To pretty much nobody’s surprise, the film has destroyed all box office records with a massive $1.2 billion opening.

The massive Marvel epic brought in $350 million from the domestic opening, which beat Infinity War‘s previous record by $100 million. The hit movie has even surpassed Star Wars: The Force Awakens by well over half a billion dollars for worldwide sales. A large part of this was a massive $330 million made during the opening weekend in China. Furthermore, Avengers: Endgame just set the new record for biggest domestic opening day ever with $156 million made in the US on Friday alone. Records were also broken in Brazil, France, and three dozen other domestic markets.

These first 22 films released for Marvel represent a broader achievement in the entertainment industry. The constant success they have achieved speak volumes to what can be achieved with long-term planning, passion, creativity, and talent. According to Disney Studios Chairman Alan Horn, “Though Endgame is far from an end for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, these first 22 films constitute a sprawling achievement, and this weekend’s monumental success is a testament to the world they’ve envisioned, the talent involved, and their collective passion, matched by the irrepressible enthusiasm of fans around the world.”
