Are You at the Wrong Job?

It is impossible to excel in a career path that doesn’t play on your strengths without stressing yourself out.

While stress may play an immediate role in making you hate your job, there is still a possibility that your job is just not the right fit for you. If your long-term engagement is suffering and you are unhappy, it may be time to look for a new job.

Here are the signs that your in the wrong job:

  1. You don’t agree with the mission. If you don’t agree with what your company is selling, then you will become more disengaged and resentful the longer you stay working there.
  2. You don’t get along with your coworkers. You don’t need to be friends with everyone (or anyone) at work, but if your workplace lacks a common vision or focus, it won’t help you in the long run. A lack of connection with colleagues will eventually slow your productivity.
  3. You don’t respect your boss. If you don’t respect and value your employer, you won’t be able to respect their guidance and decisions.
  4. It isn’t going anywhere. If your job isn’t in some way helping you reach your career goals, then it’s hindering your growth
  5. Your work gives you a bad attitude. If your workplace drama ends up spilling out into your personal life, then you are clearly in the wrong place.
  6. You feel the need to turn to self-coping mechanisms. If your job is debilitating to the point that you start picking up vices to cope, then you need to leave that toxic environment.
  7. You’re keen to leave every day. It’s normal to be excited to have free time, but if you are always excited to escape your work, maybe your work isn’t exciting enough for you.
