Apple’s 300K Piece Of Junk

Apple enthusiasts, get out your wallets. No, the new iPhone isn’t coming out (yet) but something very old is being exhumed from the depths of technology past. An original Apple-1 computer from the 1970s is going up for auction, and it could fetch over $300,000 to find its rightful home.

More than 40 years ago, the prehistoric piece of junk would have went for a measly 600 bucks. But it’s still functional, completely vintage, and is ready to go at the RR auction.

Apple may have been the first company to reach a trillion dollar market value, but that doesn’t mean that it’s only thanks to their latest pieces in tech. Without items like the Apple-1, the company would not be the success that it is today. That’s why the computer is expected to go for so much money.

According to Gizmodo, only about 60 of these bad boys still exist today, so having one in your house would be pretty historic. And to be fair, that’s 60 remaining of the total 200 that were created by Steve Wozniak and Steve Jobs.

With a manual keyboard, tiny monitor, and a release date from 1976, the functionality may be gone, but the Apple-1 will always remain a staple artifact in technology history… an artifact worth at the minimum, $300,000.
