The program, which will be called “Fulfilled by Amazon Donations,” will send hundreds of thousands of products to charity.

The newly unveiled Fulfilled by Amazon Donations program is set to begin operating on September 1st. Amazon has recently been dumping huge amounts of products, even going so far as to dump three million televisions in 2018.

The goal of Amazon’s new program is to reduce the waste that the company has recently been producing and provide sellers with a cheap and environmentally friendly way to clear unsold inventory. Amazon previously charged $0.15 to toss a product instead of donating it. This arrangement for Amazon’s garbage fees won’t change, but the new program will make it easier for sellers to donate a product.

A documentary released in France in May revealed that Amazon tossed over 3 million televisions into the trash in just 2018. This figure only includes France, as the company dumps untold amounts of unused products around the world. The problem is that at many Amazon warehouses products that were just left around wait to be tossed into the trash. This problem is aggravated by the fact that it is common to find batches of the same product that had the same defect. Amazon’s latest program is set to start trying to fix these problems in less than two weeks.
